2021 has so far been a year that is still different from the “normal” and the way we celebrate Pride this year is no exception. During our street festivities in front of SLM Oslo and in the week prior to that, we had planned to hold the Mr. Leather Norway 2021 Contest. However, we did not receive enough candidates to hold the Title competition as planned this year. The board of SLM Oslo did an evaluation of the candidates we did receive and discussed the plan for the Title.

According to the rules laid out, it reverts to the board of SLM Oslo to decide once it is clear that the competition cannot be held. After deliberations we unanimously decided to award the Title of Mr. Leather 2021 to Ambjörn Söderberg. We are convinced he will honor the trust that the club has placed in him by awarding him the Title. In the Board’s opinion , Ambjörn is a very worthy candidate to hold the Title and fulfills all the requirements we have laid out for Mr. Leather Norway. The Board has witnessed Ambjörn’s growth within the Leather Community over the past years and his support for events and groups both here in Norway and abroad .

Ambjörn has been an active part of the Leather scene and SLM for many years. He has been an active part in events digitally during the pandemic, but also in person whenever possible. He inspires people and partakes actively in the community. His commitment and deep appreciation for the community and brotherhood that the leather scene represents, and his positive outlook on where the Leather community should be heading, have convinced the board that he is a worthy Title holder. We are convinced he will represent SLM Oslo, Norway and the Leather community in a good way throughout his Title year.

Because of this there will not be a public or jury vote as we had planned. Instead, Per Helge and Ambjörn will have an opportunity during the street festivities outside SLM to have a podium debate and give our members the chance to get to know Ambjörn a bit better before he gets the Title.

On Saturday, Per Helge will have his step down ceremony as Mr. Leather Norway 2019/2020 and hand over the Title to Ambjörn outside of SLM. Ambjörn will assume his role as Mr. Leather Norway 2021 and treat us all to some music at the street fair afterwards as a DJ. 

Sunday will be the quieter end of Pride week and we invite everyone to join us for some music, entertainment and a Meet & Greet with our new Mr. Leather Norway.

To give everyone the opportunity to do a bit of spring cleaning and rethink their gear, we will be having a second hand Gear Market throughout Sunday. Bring any gear you do not need anymore for yourself and sell it at SLM, or come by and treat yourself to some new gear others have brought. You can choose to sell everything yourself and get some table space when you arrive or choose to donate your gear to the club and we sell it. So make sure to bring all those beautiful pieces that you do not need any longer.
